Dr. Hoffman turns to fellow MVSC surgeon Dr. Dolphin for his own procedure
July 12, 2024
Choosing the right provider for any surgery takes trust and confidence. That was no different when one of Mississippi Valley Surgery Center’s own orthopaedic surgeons, Dr. John Hoffman, needed surgery himself as he was experiencing significant leg pain that became disabling at times.
Being on the patient side was new to him, but after working many years with Mississippi Valley Surgery Center, there was no other team he trusted more with his own health. That’s why he turned to his colleague, Dr. Michael Dolphin, for help.
Dr. Dolphin has developed protocols which allow for a rapid recovery and the ability to perform procedures such as microdisectomy and cervical fusions on an outpatient basis, getting patients back to activity and home quicker with less pain.
Trust in experience and expertise
After an MRI, Dr. Dolphin identified a cyst that was pushing on a nerve, causing Dr. Hoffman’s debilitating pain. Soon, he underwent an hour-long surgery that not only allowed him to return to his lifestyle pain-free, but also with a renewed sense of confidence both as an MVSC surgeon and as an MVSC patient with his very own success story.
